SAS to launch Copenhagen-Shanghai next March

Scandinavian Airlines’ new route offers range of onward destinations

Scandinavian Airlines will launch its new Copenhagen-Shanghai on 1 March 2012. The route had initially been set for launch in winter 2011. SAS says that the five-weekly service will offer short and smooth connection time from Scandinavia and European destinations such as London, Munich, Paris, Berlin, Warsaw, Vienna and the Baltic capitals to Shanghai. From Shanghai, SAS’s partners Shanghai Airlines and Air China offer a wide range of onward destinations, specifically in Southern China but also across Asia. The new route will be served by an Airbus A340-300, the biggest aircraft in the SAS fleet.
“The demand for traffic to China is again growing significantly and we see the need for an additional route, complementing our successful Copenhagen-Beijing and other Asian routes,” Robin Kamark, the airline’s chief commercial officer, explained.
