SAS to launch Stockholm-Hamburg route

Move “meets SAS passengers’ needs for direct routes”

SAS will launch a new direct route between Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Hamburg Airport on April 22, with two return flights every weekday and one return flight on Sundays.

More than 100,000 passengers fly between Stockholm and Hamburg every year, the airline says. The last time SAS operated this route was in 2009, but it is now being reopened “in order to meet SAS passengers’ needs for direct routes within Europe”.

The route will be operated with a Boeing 737-600, with capacity for 120 passengers, and a Boeing 717 with capacity for 115 passengers. The airline already has several daily direct departures from Stockholm to three German destinations, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf and Berlin.

“This is a much-requested route among SAS passengers and Northern Germany is a key business area for many Swedish companies,” Joakim Landholm, SAS’ commercial chief, commented. “With a good business timetable, along with fast track and lounge, we have a strong offering and we are hopeful that this venture will turn out very well.”
