SAS transfers Norway line station duties to Widerøe

Transfer represents 850 staff, equipment, premises, contracts
SAS and the Norwegian regional carrier Widerøe have agreed on the transfer of operations at all SAS Ground Handling’s line stations in Norway to Widerøe Ground Handling, in line with a letter of intent signed in June.
SAS Ground Handling’s operations at 14 line stations in Norway will be transferred to Widerøe, a former SAS subsidiary, on February 1. The transfer represents around 850 full-time positions, equipment, premises and handling contracts.
The transaction is being conducted as an operations transfer, meaning that “the transaction in itself will have no significant impact on SAS’ earnings”, the airline says.
Following the transfer, SAS will buy ground services from Widerøe Ground Handling as an external service. The companies have entered into a five-year contract for these services.
