Scandic appoints experts in digitalization, branding

The Nordic hotel giant reveals three appointments to strengthen its Executive Committee, two of them old hands at SAS.

Scandic has announced changes to its Executive Committee today, aimed at fortifying the company’s focus on digitalization, branding and marketing.

The new chief information officer will be Ann Hellenius, who has “solid experience in driving digitalization”. She has previously held the same position at payment solutions firm Bankgirot and at the City of Stockholm. She is also a member of the Digitalization Council of the Swedish government.

Other new faces are Niklas Angergård, to be chief customer officer, and Jan Lundborg, the new chief commercial optimization officer.

Angergård was previously CMO at the software company Tieto and has years of experience in brand strategy, marketing and customer satisfaction at companies such as SAS, Telia and Klarna.

Lundborg has “a strong commercial background”, Scandic says, also at SAS, as well as at Amadeus. Most recently he was Scandic’s vice president for revenue management and distribution but he starts in his new position right away. Hellenius and Angergård will begin in the autumn.

New structure
The new position of chief information officer comes with responsibility for digitalization and developing the guest experience with the help of IT and new technologies, Scandic explains.

Meanwhile, the previous position of chief commercial officer will be divided into two functions: a chief customer officer responsible for brand strategy, marketing and the loyalty program, among other things, and a chief commercial optimization officer responsible for sales and distribution.

The other functions in the Executive Committee remain unchanged. Overall, the committee will look like this:
