Scandic appoints new sustainability director

Vanessa Butani has previous work experience at Electrolux, Plan International and Accenture.

Scandic Hotels has appointed Vanessa Butani as its new director of sustainable business, to start her new position in March.

The job title is not a new one, and Butani will be responsible for continuing the company’s work to “optimise” Scandic’s operations and reach its sustainability goals.

She will also be assigned with “forwarding the company’s ambitions to drive sustainability within the entire hotel industry”.

This includes working with sustainability in all parts of the organisation and setting the strategy for the coming years.

Scandic says the new appointee has “broad experience from working with sustainability, corporate strategy and business development”, most recently at Electrolux and before that with Plan International and Accenture.

Environmental and social
Scandic has been a pioneer in the hotel industry when it comes to setting best practice for reducing water and energy use and waste. In recent years, its focus has been more on social sustainability, coming up with and supporting projects for inclusion and integration.

“Scandic is famous for its sustainability initiatives and has had a great influence on the whole industry when it comes to reducing the environmental impact,” Butani said.
