Scandic fifth best in world for hotel WiFi

Scandic is fifth fastest chain by wireless internet speed



The results are in from data collected during the first four months of the Hotel WiFi Test service, which ran from 10 October 2013 to 10 February 2014. Scandic was found to be the fifth fastest hotel chain in the world by wireless internet speed.

The ratings of the world’s best-known hotel chains, listed below, are based on “the observed number of hotels with decent WiFi in relation to the overall hotel chain size”, according to the test’s organisers.

Following Andaz Hotels By Hyatt in first place, Starwood’s Le Meridien brand was second and Carlson Rezidor’s Radisson Blu third.

By individual hotel, properties are ranked based on their “adjusted expected speed value”. The Emblem Hotel in Prague was found to have the best Wi-Fi, offering a free service with a maximum speed of 153.2Mbps. The TradeWinds Island Grand in Florida was second and DoubleTree by Hilton Chicago Arlington Heights third.

Europe’s best Wi-Fi hotel was found to be the Radisson Blu Amsterdam Airport, while the best hotel in Asia for Wi-Fi was Hong Kong’s Hotel Icon.
