Scandic takes back Hilton Malmö City

Chain takes over Hilton, expands to five hotels in Malmö

The hotel that rises above the Triangeln shopping centre was originally Scandic’s flagship hotel in Malmö at the start of the millennium, before Hilton took it over in 2002. Ten years later, Scandic Hotels has signed a new contract with the landlord, Vasakronan, to take the hotel back and return the Scandic sign to the top of the city’s third tallest building. Scandic already has four hotels in Malmö and Scandic Triangeln will be number five.
Scandic will fully refurbish the hotel together with Vasakronan, starting in 2013. The rooms and public spaces will be of the highest quality, the chain promises, with accessibility and sustainability at the forefront. Hilton will leave the hotel on 31 December 2012, the date that Scandic will take over operational responsibility.
