Scandic to host Nordic food events in New York

Chain to open a room at food festival – for a week
The North Food Festival, a weeklong event dedicated to Nordic cuisine, will start in New York’s West Village on September 23, and Scandic will be on site with its mobile hotel room Scandic To Go.
Dubbed “the most influential gastronomy movement since the 1960s”, New Nordic Cuisine has had a huge impact on the world’s dining scene since it first arrived 10 years ago.
The food festival will give visitors the chance to experience the cooking of some of the world’s most exciting Nordic chefs. Nordic specialties will be available at stands on what will be called Scandic Haymarket Square.
The Scandic room is being redecorated to provide a taste of what the chain’s big new hotel at Stockholm’s Hötorget Square, Haymarket, will look like when it opens in spring 2016. There will also be a model of the new hotel that is being developed in the Swedish capital’s historic PUB department store building.
New York is one of the most popular destinations for Scandinavians and Scandic says it hopes that people visiting from the Nordic countries will go and take a look. The festival will continue until September 28. More about the festival can be found here.
