Scandinavian Airlines arrives in Houston

Route operated by “business version” of Boeing 737-700

Scandinavian Airlines has launched its new six-days-a-week nonstop service connecting Houston in Texas with Stavanger. The airline expects the initiative to “significantly strengthen the economic and cultural ties that already exist within the oil and gas industry in the regions”.

The route will be operated by a “business version” of the Boeing 737-700 and will have a SAS Long Haul Business Class concept on board with just 44 seats, in-flight entertainment and full-service meals.

“The route we have established is a tailored product for a defined market with particular travel needs,” explains Eivind Roald, executive vice president for sales and marketing at SAS. “The favourable timetable provides excellent connections throughout Scandinavia in both directions, while Houston is a hub for connections south and west with Star Alliance.”

Departures in both directions will be daily except Tuesdays. SAS will be the only airline with nonstop service between Scandinavia and Houston.

In addition to Houston-Stavanger, SAS also operates nonstop services from New York (Newark) to Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm, from Chicago to Copenhagen and Stockholm, and from Washington DC and San Francisco to Copenhagen.
