A tourism delegation from the United Arab Emirates is visiting three Scandinavian cities this week.
The tourism authority representing the fast-emerging destination of Sharjah near Dubai is joining a delegation from the United Arab Emirates to visit three Scandinavian cities this week as part of the Visit UAE roadshow.
Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority is visiting Stockholm, Oslo and Copenhagen from September 17 to 21 together with Emirates Airline, 29 representatives from hotels and travel agencies and eight government officials.
The authority will “shed light on the enriching tourism experiences on offer in Sharjah, as well as the city’s diverse culture and heritage, to encourage more Scandinavian visitors,” TTG MENA writes.
The workshops to be held during the roadshow will provide a platform for the UAE to strengthen partnerships with their Scandinavian counterparts and build on networks for possible collaboration.
“The tourism sector is a major pillar in the UAE’s efforts in economic broadening, a key strategy for the country’s transition to the post-oil economy, and the Visit UAE roadshow is an important initiative which significantly contributes to achieving this vision,” said HE Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, chairman of the Sharjah tourism authority.
“The authority supports this initiative by showcasing Sharjah’s unique beauty, which reflects the wide range of tourism opportunities in the UAE.”
He continued that the authority would “capitalise on the opportunity to present its market offerings in these European cities and strategically position Sharjah as a destination of choice, as part of the UAE,” according to TTG MENA.
“Our country has continued to gain popularity across the world as a leading destination in the Middle East. We look forward to a productive and enjoyable experience in Stockholm, Oslo and Copenhagen.”
