Speculation over closer Lufthansa-Emirates ties

Lufthansa chief executive is open to new partnerships
Lufthansa is open to new partnerships with unrelated airlines – if they are profitable. So says Carsten Spohr, the German airline’s chief executive, fuelling speculation that the carrier could approach longstanding rival Emirates for closer ties.
Speaking to journalists at an aviation summit in Washington, he said that for a partnership to be of interest it had to make money and be good for both sides.
Now that IAG and Air France have cooperation agreements with Qatar Airways and Etihad Analysts, analysts are suggesting that Lufthansa should seek a similar deal with Emirates.
Spohr did not go this far, however, saying that Lufthansa was not looking at any passenger agreements with the Dubai-based airline.
