Star ratings for flight bookings launched

New feature is by travel metasearch engine Skyscanner
Skyscanner has launched a new ratings feature for flight bookings. Flight inventory that airlines or OTAs provide to the travel metasearch engine can be given a score of between zero and five stars, based on ratings provided entirely by users.
Skyscanner is already a global search engine helping users find comparisons for flights, hotels and car hire, with data coming “from more providers than anyone else”.
The new flight-booking ratings, updated weekly, take into account issues such as price accuracy, additional fees and the booking site’s ease of use, along with the volume of customer complaints. It does not reflect the experience on board the plane.
As part of the new feature, all of Skyscanner’s airline and OTA partners are now given access to a portal called FlightsConnect, designed to allow them to better understand, improve and optimise booking performance.
The portal offers analytics tools including metadata breaking down the ratings scores from customers in addition to their current market share on key routes and API performance.
