Starwood to open 50 new hotels in Europe

Five-year program focuses on Turkey and Russia

Starwood Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to open 50 new hotels in Europe over the next five years, increasing its European hotel portfolio by 30%. It will open nine new hotels across the continent in 2013 alone, primarily in “fast-growing markets”.
The nine new hotels include three new properties in Turkey – an Aloft and a Sheraton in Bursa as well as a new Sheraton hotel in the city of Adana – the Sheraton Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport in July and the addition of the well-known King George Hotel in Athens to Starwood’s Luxury Collection portfolio.
At the same time, Starwood and its partners are making large-scale investments to restore and improve some of the company’s most iconic European hotels.
