Miss Clara set in Art Nouveau former girl’s school
Located north of Kungsgatan Avenue, a century-old Art Nouveau building that housed the former Ateneum girl’s school has been carefully restored and will open on April 4 as a new upscale design hotel called Miss Clara.
Restored under the direction of Gert Wingårdh of architecture firm Wingårdhs, high ceilings and large windows remain intact and all 92 rooms follow the architect’s unique concept of an outward-facing property, where the windows facing Sveavägen Boulevard are treated as “centre stage”.
Here guests can expect “a chic intermingling of marble bathrooms, retractable workspaces and contemporary riffs on the property’s Art Nouveau history via furniture pieces and installations”. At street-level, “a vibrant restaurant and bar” will “thrive on the urban buzz of the evolving Stockholm City district, welcoming guests and savvy-locals alike”.
