Stockholm is world’s most family-friendly city

International TripAdvisor survey of more than 54,000 travellers

TripAdvisor, the world’s biggest travel site, has named Stockholm the best destination in the world for “family-friendliness”, the runners up being Singapore in second place and Copenhagen third.

This was one of the results of the site’s second annual Cities Survey, revealing how travellers view key tourist cities around the world. The results were compiled based on more than 54,000 responses from people who have recently written TripAdvisor reviews for featured cities around the world.

Ranking first for the city with the best overall experience was Tokyo. The city claimed top spots for helpfulness of locals, taxi service, local public transport and cleanliness of streets. Tokyo got high marks across the board, as it ranked among the top 10 in 13 of 16 categories in the survey.

New York City, the only US city on the list, was top for best restaurants and nightlife. It also came in second for best overall experience, shopping and attractions.

Other high ranking cities were Singapore, which was number one for comfort when travelling alone and second for taxi service, cleanliness of streets, ease of getting around and family-friendliness. Rome topped the list for attractions and culture and Dubai first for shopping and hotels. Berlin also did well across the board.

Among the world’s overall lowest rankers, Moscow came last in the world for helpful locals, friendliest taxi drivers, best taxi services, best value for money and best for hotels. Copenhagen came third-lowest in the world for Best value for money.
