The new property’s design-centric image suits the chain it belongs to.
Design Hotels is making the final preparations for the opening of its newest member, the Stockholm Nobis. Designed by Claesson Koivisto Rune, a renowned and rather hip Scandinavian architecture and interior design firm, it is located on Norrmalmstorg Square in the middle of the city’s business and shopping district. The 201-room hotel, housed in two buildings dating from the late 19th century, will boast a personal approach to service and include 800 sq m of public space such as the Italian restaurant Caina, The Gold Bar, The Lounge and 24/7 Bistro.
Design is a vital part of the 5-star hotel’s image. In creating the hotel, Claesson Koivisto Rune says it was inspired by Stockholm’s winter colours. Alessandro Catenacci, the owner and CEO, describes the new property as “extremely comfortable but without unnecessary excesses”, while Design Hotels has suggested that it is “the new centre stage of Sweden’s capital”. The Lounge, the so-called “Stockholm’s new living room”, is located in an atrium and evokes a cathedral-like atmosphere with a 25m-high ceiling and modern fresco painting.
