Strong Nordic bookings help TUI

Scandinavia assists tour operator in differentiated bookings

TUI Travel’s focus on differentiated products and online distribution is resulting in the company “outperforming the market”, the operator giant says. Bookings in the Nordic countries and in the UK are heavily accented on differentiated products, which account for 78% of bookings in the Nordics – up five percentage points on last year – and for 63% of bookings in the UK, up seven percentage points.
TUI says in its latest trading statement that summer bookings are down 6% compared with last year. But summer 2012 volumes have improved in the UK, Nordics and Germany since its last update.
In the Nordics, 50% of its summer program is sold, which is “broadly in line with last year”, while in the UK 48% of its summer program is sold, with average selling price up 8%.
