Sweden is Schengen’s toughest border

Sweden makes by far the most controls in Schengen
Out of all the countries that are part of the normally passport-free Schengen Area, Sweden makes far the most border controls, Sveriges Radio reports.
Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Germany and Austria all have special permission by the European Union to carry out temporary border controls in the Schengen Area. Norway is a Schengen associated member but not an EU member.
In July and August 2016, Sweden made 3.2 million checks at its borders, eight times more than in Germany (394,503). Denmark carried out 870,971, Norway 436,363.
Sweden operates border controls on almost every vehicle on the Öresund Bridge crossing with Denmark, while other countries do only random checks.
