Sweden’s biggest hotel chain created

Best Western Hotels & Resorts buys Sweden Hotels
Best Western Hotels & Resorts has bought the Gothenburg-based chain Sweden Hotels, boosting their combined network to 138 hotels in Sweden and 180 hotels in Scandinavia.
Best Western says that the motive is to strengthen both chains’ competitiveness and to create “better conditions to be at the forefront of distribution, digitalisation, customer relations and procurement”.
Both share “the same vision of cooperation through making private and individual hotels more prosperous and offering a personal and local alternative”, as Best Western puts it.
With the merger, Sweden Hotels gains access to Best Western’s state-of-the-art digital platform, global distribution systems and loyalty programs.
“It feels great to join Best Western Hotels & Resorts. With this merger we will now be able to help the hotels even more in areas such as distribution, marketing, purchasing and sales,” claims Jenny Bänsch Larsson, Sweden Hotels’ chairman.
Johan Kukacka, CEO of Best Western Hotels & Resorts in Scandinavia, adds, “Acquiring Sweden Hotels is a strategically important decision and a natural development for us. As Sweden’s largest hotel chain we can create great conditions for developing the chain in the future and deliver even stronger results for our hotels.”
