Sweden’s new “athletic conference hotel” now open

Old military barracks become hotel with mountains as backdrop
Around 200 more rooms and 20 meeting rooms are available in Östersund, now that the Quality Hotel & Resort Frösö Park has opened this week. Old military barracks have been transformed into a “sporty conference hotel with mountains as a backdrop”.
“To be able to open this unique hotel in one of Sweden’s most beautiful places is exciting,” said Björn Hemmingsson, chief executive of Frösö Park Hotel AB. “Now the amazing surroundings are also available for sports and exercise. We want the whole of Frösö Park to be a dynamic and active meeting place and the starting point of an adventure.”
The focus of the new hotel is on sports and fitness, as well as views of the Jämtland mountains. The first paying guests of the new hotel arrived on Tuesday evening.
“The big windows make the hotel rooms bright with an incredible view, and in the suites the guests get a panorama of a mountain world. It will entice our guests to exercise in the surroundings,” Hemmingsson added.
The new Quality Hotel & Resort Frösö Park will be a “natural hub of a facility with a focus on conferences, events, wellness and sports”. The unique environment, previously inaccessible to the public because of military operations, is now available to everyone.
