Sweden’s total air traffic increases by 7%

More passengers used Swedish airports in August
More and more people are choosing to fly to and from Sweden. During August, passenger volumes at airport operator Swedavia’s airports rose even further, by 6% compared to August 2014.
International travel was up 7% to more than 2.3 million passengers, while domestic travel increased by 4% to almost 1.1 million. A total of almost 3.4 million people arrived or departed at one of the group’s airports, a rise of 195,000.
So far in 2015, the number of passengers at Swedavia’s airports has increased by 5% to 24.7 million, with international traffic up 7% during the first eight months of the year.
The number of landings of scheduled and charter operations was just over 17,000 in August, which means an increase of 2% compared to January-August 2014.
“Our work to enhance access within Sweden and beyond is producing good results, and more and more passengers now have the possibility of flying non-stop to their final destination,” says Torborg Chetkovich, chief executive of Swedavia. “Domestic travel is also growing, which indicates the need for a continued favourable competitive situation in the Swedish aviation market.”
