Swedes buy Amsterdam sightseeing operator

Strömma buys Amsterdam Canal Bike with many boats
Stockholm-based sightseeing operator Strömma Turism & Sjöfart has bought its Dutch counterpart Amsterdam Canal Bike B V, effective from June 7.
Strömma says that the acquisition creates the opportunity to coordinate and develop both companies’ distribution and sustainability solutions in the Netherlands and the Nordics.
Strömma currently operates a substantial fleet of tour buses and canal boats in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland.
The group is strong in distribution and selling tours and via its own websites, online travel agencies and other retailers and a private company for an excursion program for the cruise market. It also operates the Stockholm and Helsinki city cards.
Canal operates an extensive fleet of custom canal boats, which consists of 46 sightseeing boats and about 100 pedal boats. The management team there will remain in place.
“We look forward to continuing Canal’s successful trip. With Strömma’s developed distribution we will be able to contribute both to the business and to tourism in Amsterdam,” says Jan Larsen, CEO of Strömma.
