An OTA looks at bookings for Swedish singles and couples – and Europeans visiting Sweden.
European cities top the list of destinations among Swedish single travellers over Valentine’s Day, with London number one among them.
The online agency Travellink has looked at the travel bookings over the period among couples and singles.
It says the bookings show that Swedish couples prefer to travel to quieter cities like Budapest and Malaga for Valentine’s Day, while singles choose trendier London, Madrid and Berlin.
The stats are based on departures between February 7 and 14 in 2018 compared to the same dates in 2017, and with a minimum of two nights.
The Nordic OTA with businesses in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland and now part of the European travel group eDreams ODIGEO, also looked at European singles visiting Sweden for the day of love.
It claims that Luleå in Lapland has risen in popularity the most – up 31% on the same period last year – and is now ahead of both Stockholm and Gothenburg for European single travellers.
When it comes to European couples, however, Gothenburg is also up by more than 30%.
