Swedish ferry rams into port in Poland

Ferry “rams the stern into the leg of a container crane”

A Stena Line ferry, Stena Spirit, has crashed into the leg of a loading crane in the Polish port of Gdynia. The crane collapsed and three port employees were rushed to hospital, two of them with serious injuries.
The incident occurred as the Swedish ferry was departing. In the words of the ferry company’s communications manager Jesper Waltersson, “she rammed the stern into the leg of the container crane”. None of the 49 crew or 120 passengers on board the ferry were injured. Stena Spirit, which was bound for Karlskrona in Sweden, remains in Gdynia for the time being.
