Swedish winner checks in to airport tower

Stockholm Arlanda’s ramp tower made into apartment
Thousands of people from across Europe took part in a competition to win a one-night stay in Stockholm Arlanda’s landmark ramp tower, which together with HomeAway was converted into an apartment designed by artist Cilla Ramnek.
This week, a Swedish winner named Jenny was first to check in, bringing four generations of her family with her including her grandfather, who is a retired SAS pilot aged 91.
In the weeks to come, other winners from France, Finland, Denmark and Norway will also spend a night in the tower.
Airport operator Swedavia announced in June that Arlanda’s ramp tower would be turned into a flat. It was converted into a unique apartment featuring a kitchen and panoramic views of the airport’s take-off and landing runways.
Five winners were chosen as the only guests to stay there. A night in the tower is to be followed by an additional three nights in another HomeAway holiday rental, in either Stockholm, Copenhagen, Helsinki or Oslo.
VIP service includes a visit to the air traffic control tower, a behind-the-scenes tour of the airport and culinary experiences including breakfast served in the tower by RC Chocolat and dinner at Pontus in the Air, owned by chef Pontus Frithiof.
