Tallink reports varying passenger figures

Pax carried up 3% on Estonia-Finland, down 4% on Finland-Sweden

The shipping giant Tallink did not see much change in passenger figures in the first quarter, with the overall change on all routes at 0.2% up on the same period last year (total of 1.98 million passengers in Q1 2012). But the company’s lines varied, with passenger figures rising 3% on the lucrative hop between Estonia and Finland (to 909,000), yet falling 4% between Finland and Sweden (to 709,000). The number of passenger vehicles on the latter route fell 7.2% to 23,000, but rose 6% on Estonia-Finland to 155,500.
People carried on Estonia-Sweden remained unchanged and on Latvia-Sweden they rose by 2.5%.
