Thai smile prepares for launch in July 2012

THAI Smile Air to fly to regional destinations throughout Asia in 2013

Thai Airways’ new light-premium subsidiary THAI Smile Air is due to launch flights in July 2012. The new brand will be “a competitive hybrid between premium THAI flights and ultra cheap, low-cost airlines like Air Asia and Tiger Airways,” according to Thai Airways. Operating a fleet of 11 new Airbus A320s, the new airline will replace Thai Airways’ routes between Bangkok Suvarnabhumi and Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Chiang Rai, and Surat Thani.
Later, in 2013, THAI Smile Air will operate to regional destinations in India, China and other Asean states. The airline is targeting young, small and medium business travellers and local leisure travellers who want a good atmosphere without paying the premium price.
