Thailand searches surge for Krabi and Kathu

Fastest growing markets, average stays, lead-times named
Beaches and islands are Thailand’s most powerful attractions, with Krabi entering TripAdvisor’s top five Thai destinations in terms of search traffic growth for the first time, registering the highest increase at 41%.
Krabi is followed by Kathu and Nai Yang in Phuket, at 37% and 31%, respectively. Tied in fourth with a 10% increase in searches are Chiang Mai in the north and the border city Hat Yai in the south.
China continues to give the highest percentage increase in search traffic on TripAdvisor, with a year-on-year increase of 30%, outpacing the international average of 4%. India and Indonesia follow in second and third place, with year-on-year search increases of 16% and 12%.
The biggest sources of search traffic for Thailand are China, the US, the UK, Australia and Russia.
Of the top five inbound markets, the Chinese have the shortest planning lead-time of 51 days, staying for four nights on average. Among Chinese searches, there is growing interest from second-tier cities such as Hangzhou, Dalian and Qingdao.
Russians take around 60 days to plan a trip but stay the longest, with 11 nights per stay. Travellers from the US, the UK and Australia stay for six nights on average and take the longest to plan, with lead-times of 108, 102 and 82 days, respectively. On average, Thailand visitors start planning their trip 65 days in advance and stay for almost five nights.

Finnair reported Tuesday 17th July its H1 (January-June) results. Despite growth in passenger numbers, the operating result came in 41.9 percent below last year, disturbing the financial markets and resulting in Finnair shares fell sharply in early trading at Helsinki stock exchange.

Farnborough Air Show day 1, airlines announced new aircraft orders for more than USD 20 billion.

The bi-annual airshow at Farnborough airport outside London is the world’s largest display of aircrafts, both civil and military, together with the bi-annual Paris Air Show, at Le Bourget airport. The Farnborough Air Show is on during July 16-22 and Standby Nordic will report on relevant news.
