Thailand sees 21% more tourists in 2011

International arrivals to Thailand 17.1 million in first 11 months

Despite the recent floods, international visitor arrivals to Thailand came to 17.1 million in the first 11 months of this year – a rise of 21.2% from the same period last year. Arrivals from all major markets around the world showed growth in double digits. From Northeast Asia, they increased by as much as 34.3% to 4.3 million; from ASEAN by 22.1% to 4.9 million; from Europe by 13.6% to 4.4 million. Arrivals from South Asia rose by 19.8% to 1.1 million; from the Americas by 12.9% to 850,000; and from Oceania by 7.7% to 830,000.
Thailand anticipates a total of 18.6 million international visitor arrivals for the year, 17.7% more than the total for last year.
