Thailand to launch “Miracle” marketing campaign

Country hopes for a “Miracle Thailand Year” after the floods

Thailand announced today that it intends to launch its new “Miracle Thailand Year” campaign in April after postponing it due to the country’s heavy flooding. The 12-month, THB6.3 billion (US$202 million) campaign will focus on Thailand’s colourful festivals, the Tourism and Sports Ministry says. Festival periods will be extended – the Songkran Festival, for example, running for a month instead of five days.
However, the president of the Association of Thai Travel Agents, Susdivarchr Cheewarattanaporn, is pressing for a range of new tourist attractions to be developed in order for the country to maintain its leading position in the region for tourism arrivals.
