Things not to do on your first cruise

Don’t forget sunscreen, and don’t get your teeth whitened

The website Cruise Critic and its readers have created a list of things that first-time cruise passengers should take care to avoid doing when heading onto the high seas. First of all, don’t pick the wrong cruise or the wrong cabin, well-seasoned cruisers advise. It’s important to find a cruise line that best fits your personality, one cruise fan explains.
Obviously, don’t pick the wrong person to spend a whole cruise with. Take packing seriously, including a backpack, and don’t pack your passport in the suitcase. Don’t underestimate the power of the buffet, says one passenger – pack loose-fitting clothes as “you will gain weight as the week goes on.” And don’t forget to say “I’ve had enough” – especially when it comes to alcohol.
Other advice includes: don’t neglect the staff; don’t spend money on stuff you don’t need; don’t forget to save room for souvenirs; don’t use the elevators if you can avoid them (“you waste a lot of time waiting”); don’t forget sunscreen; don’t get your teeth whitened (“our gums were sore for a couple days”); and don’t complain.
