Thomas Cook offers ‘pay in instalments’

Retail customers in UK can now pay monthly
Thomas Cook has launched a scheme to allow retail customers to spread the cost of their holiday, through monthly direct debit payments. The operator claims to be the first major high street travel retailer to offer this.
The interest-free scheme, which will be available at stores under the brands Thomas Cook and Co-operative Travel, is already available for online bookings.
It applies to bookings for winter 2016, summer 2017 and long-haul winter 2017-18 package holidays when booked 22 weeks or more before departure. The deposit for customers who pay in instalments is £25 (€30) per person instead of £200 per person.
“As a pioneer in travel we are continually looking for new ways to serve our customers better,” claims Kathryn Darbandi, the operator’s director of detail and customer experience in the UK and Ireland.
“Our travel agent feedback showed that the online direct debit scheme would be a valuable tool in our stores also, to make budgeting for a holiday easier by spreading the cost across monthly instalments.”
