Thomas Cook sets up new airline

First flights to take off out of Majorca early in 2018
Thomas Cook says it is launching a new airline in Majorca, Spain, with its first flights to start early next year. The move comes amid turbulence in Europe’s short-haul aviation sector.
The company already operates airlines in Scandinavia, the UK and Belgium as well as Condor in Germany, and says the new carrier will supplement existing operations.
Initially, three A320s previously part of the Belgian airline will take over short and medium-haul flights that had been flown by Condor from Germany, replacing third-party aircraft leases.
Thomas Cook Airlines Balearics is to be based in the operator’s most popular destination, providing flights from there to support the company’s other airlines depending on seasonal demand, giving Cook “greater operational flexibility” at a competitive cost.
