Tourists visit Iceland to stay in people’s homes

New 12-minute video called Inspired by Iceland ready to watch

Guests from all over the world are travelling to Iceland attracted by the idea of staying in people’s homes and joining local people to experience a personal side to the country. A 12-minute video called Inspired by Iceland recently posted on Huffington Post’s Inspiration site shows a small group of tourists visiting the home of President Olafur Ragnar Grimsson and his wife Dorrit for pancakes, and others dropping into Reykjavik Mayor Jon Gnarr for some Icelandic sushi.
Incoming tourists also have the option of joining locals in mussel picking, rounding up sheep, going on a photo-shoot to an especially wild location, taking part in band practice with a local group of musicians, enjoying a warm outdoor footbath with some cake, and learning to knit with Icelandic wool, among many other things. The guests visit people’s homes and get a “special connection” to Iceland.
