Transport strikes may hit Sweden this week

Sweden prepares for strikes and traffic chaos

Transport unions in Sweden are threatening to order strikes this week on bus, train and underground networks. As many as five strikes due to labour strikes may result in severe disruptions ahead of the Midsummer weekend.
Bus transport would be hit in Stockholm and Umeå on Wednesday, with the strike possibly spreading to other cities the following week. On Thursday, Pendeltåg commuter trains could be delayed in Malmö, Gothenburg and Stockholm. The red line on the capital’s underground network could also be hit.
Unions representing staff in telecoms, cleaning companies and hairdressers, among others, are also threatening strike action.
