Travelport launches individual agent-branded app

Agents can create their own individually branded apps for clients

Travelport is launching an app in partnership with the Travel Network Group, which will enable travel agents to create their own individually branded apps for clients.

Business development director Jasmeen Kaur told TTG Digital that the new app would mean agents “would no longer need big budgets in order to be in the mobile space”.

The app, entitled Travel Amigo, syncs with the Galileo and Worldspan GDSs to access client itineraries. It was first announced last year, but was launched at Travel Network Group convention that took place over the weekend in Split, Croatia.

Once agents have purchased Travel Amigo, they will be able to create their own individually customised app, which the customer can then download from the Apple App store for free.

The client can then enter their booking reference number to start planning their holiday, with options to book additional car hire, attractions and airport lounges through Holiday Extras, Attraction World and A2B Transfers, which the agent can then earn commission on.

Kaur said the app was designed to get agents involved with every part of the trip, rather than simply the initial booking.

“There are four phases included on the app – pre-trip, in-trip, in-destination and post-trip,” she explained. “Pre-trip will allow customers to do ‘geospatial searches’, meaning they can search a destination on a map as if they were already there, enabling them to see which local attractions are close by.

“In-trip offers services such as lounge passes, ground transport and priority boarding, which the agent can then earn commission on. In-destination has bookable products, such as local attractions or events, which agents can also earn commission on. And post-trip will allow clients to share their experiences on social media, by syncing up with sites such as Facebook.”
