Trend: More Scandinavians flying via CPH

Busy month of August results in record-high summer traffic

The number of transfer passengers flying via Copenhagen Airport in August increased by 19.4% compared to the same month in 2013, to more than 284,000 passengers.

The airport explained that in particular this trend reflects more Scandinavians travelling through CPH en route to North American destinations such as New York, San Francisco and Fort Lauderdale and to major European cities such as London, Amsterdam, Paris and Milan.

Overall passenger growth of 7% in August lifted traffic in Copenhagen to a new record for the three summer months of more than 7.5 million travellers. The year-to-date increase in passenger numbers is 7.2%. The total number of passengers at the airport for the year-to-date is 17.4 million, which is 1.2 million more than in the same period of last year.

Summer 2014 was busier than ever before at Copenhagen Airport. A total of 2,440,706 passengers used the airport in August, about 160,000 more than in August 2013. The number of locally departing international passengers rose by 7.3%, whilst domestic traffic grew by 3%.
