Tropical storm forces cruise ships to act

Tropical Storm Ernesto scrambles Caribbean cruises

As it heads toward Mexico and parts of the Caribbean, Tropical Storm Ernesto is likely to become a strengthening storm. NASA infrared data revealed strong thunderstorms on August 5 and 6. Ernesto, the fifth of only six named storms so far in 2012, has caused cruise ships to rework their schedules in the Western Caribbean. It has maximum sustained winds of around 80 kilometres per hour and is around 200 kilometres wide.
For example, Carnival Legend, is calling on Montego Bay, Jamaica, this week instead of scheduled calls in Belize and Mahogany Bay, Honduras. Carnival Freedom will likely reverse the order of its stops in Grand Cayman and Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Carnival Triumph is reversing the order of its calls in Progreso and Cozumel, Mexico. Carnival Magic will probably change calls to Grand Cayman and Montego Bay to stops in the Bahamas and “fun days” at sea. Disney Fantasy is sailing through the eastern Caribbean instead of the western Caribbean.
