TTG Nordic gives out awards

Danish Tourism Website Award given for first time

The Danish Tourism Website Award has been presented for the first time, at the Danish Travel Show. The winner as the country’s most attractive tourism website was Randers Rainforest, at regnskoven.dk. The rationale, said the jury – which included professional designers – was both the look of the site and the content, designed in a family-friendly, child-friendly, tropical-style layout presenting the attraction’s many exhibits. These range from a petting zoo and “guess the shit” zone, where kids can guess the animals from their faeces, to expensive design and bioethics.
Despite the extensive data it is possible to quickly locate individual animals or plants with an online encyclopedia. You can either search on the site or directly on Google where regnskoven.dk often appears among the results with over 4000 indexed pages.
“We all know that the internet today is the most common way to identify both holiday destinations and the ingredients holidays should contain,” Jan Olsen, head of VisitDenmark, said. “Families look to find out what activities there are for the whole family and where they can stay when they first have to decide on the destination.”
He added: “It is important that we all work in the same way. It is important to include accommodations and attractions with websites in foreign languages, helping to attract more tourists to Denmark. This is especially true now that VisitDenmark sets in with extra-large campaigns.”
The award’s regional winners were Tove Aittonaky, Knuthenborg Safari Park Zealand, Henrik Neelmeyer, Egeskov Castle, Mathilde Theilgaard Nielsen, Glyptotek and Jakob Stig Nielsen of Skagen Museum of North Jutland.
