Tui defends ad after “mistaken identity”

Ad features old home-video images of people on holiday

Tui has been forced to defend a TV ad broadcast in the UK, after the country’s Advertising Standards Authority received a complaint from a woman who said she had been featured in the ad without her permission. The ad, which promotes the operator’s Thomson Dreamliner, features old home-video images of people on holiday.
Tui insists that the complaint is simply mistaken identity. It said it had contacted the source of the vintage footage, Media Archive for Central England (Mace), from whom it was licensed, which confirmed that this was the case. Tui added that it had had been contacted by several individuals claiming to be or know the woman in the film.
