Peik Martin, a Finnish national, becomes the sales chief for the region, as the former head leaves the tour operating business.
Peik Martin has been named the sales director for TUI in the Nordic region, Travel News reports. He will assume his new role in August.
The current sales chief, Morten Flamand, will be moving away from the tour operator to become executive of the Oslo-based marketing agency MediaCom.
TUI is expanding Martin’s role, as the former director for transformation and change will now also have digital sales included in his assignment, according to a press release.
A Finnish national, Peik Martin began his career at TUI back in 2008 as general manager of the Finnish part of the company, which was then called Finnmatkat.
During his time at TUI he has been responsible for digital business platforms as chief information officer, and also as CIO for the operator’s Northern Region, which includes the Nordic markets as well as the UK and Ireland.
Over the years, these responsibilities have given him experience in interdisciplinary leadership, digital transformation and an understanding of the varied Nordic markets, the release says.
“With TUI’s focus on digitization, Peik is the perfect candidate for this position. Peik Martin has shown that he is a good international leader who is well acquainted with our digital sales and understands the Nordic markets,” says Alexander Huber, TUI’s CEO for the Nordic region.
