Carrier makes decision to buy 117 planes from Airbus
Turkish Airlines has made the decision to buy 117 planes from Airbus, 82 of which are firm orders and 35 options. Delivery spans between 2015 and 2020. The order consists of 88 A321neo (including the optioned planes), 25 A321ceo, four A320neo aircraft. It is the biggest order ever placed by a Turkish airline.
The order will allow Turkish Airlines to expand its network of short to medium-haul routes from its Istanbul hub. It already operates 75 A320 family aircraft. In February, it ordered five A330-300s in addition to 15 it ordered last October. In December, it confirmed 15 Boeing 777-300ERs with five options.
