Two Iceland hotels nominated for awards

Great Hotels of the World members up for awards

The sales and marketing alliance Great Hotels of the World says that 18 of its member hotels have been nominated at the World Travel Awards 2014.

Now in their 21st year, the awards aim to promote excellence in the industry and are often quoted as being “the Oscars of travel and tourism”. Travel professionals in 200 countries around the world vote on the winners. This year’s Europe gala ceremony will take place on August 2 at the Divani Apollon Palace & Thalasso in Athens, Greece.

The nominated Great Hotels of the World members include the Grand Hotel Reykjavik, described as Iceland’s leading business hotel and its leading hotel residences; and the Hotel Ranga, one of Iceland’s leading resorts.

Other hotels in the list of nominees include the Londa Hotel in Cyprus, the Prague Marriott Hotel, the Forte Village Resort in Italy, the Hotel Okura Amsterdam, Altis Suites in Portugal, Peermont D’Oreale Grande at Emperor’s Palace, described as Africa’s Leading Casino Resort, the JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel, the Sheraton Fuerteventura Beach, Spa & Golf Resort in Spain, the Wow Hotel Istanbul and Convention Centre as well as both the Argos in Cappadocia and the Gloria Golf Resort in Turkey, and St James’s Hotel and Club, The Capital and The Grove in England.
