Two Nordic MICE players up for awards

The latest showbiz-style Meetings & Incentive Travel Industry Awards 2019 will be staged in London on March 1.

Bella Center Copenhagen has been nominated as Best Overseas Conference Centre in the prestigious Meetings & Incentive Travel Industry Awards 2019, for the second consecutive year.

It will be rubbing shoulders with the “cream of the industry” when the winners of the M&IT Awards 2019 are announced at a grand show with a showbiz atmosphere in London on March 1.

The UK-based magazine M&IT is behind the awards, and the spotlight will be on Copenhagen and what the city can offer in terms of its congress and conference facilities.

The Copenhagen Convention Bureau has also been nominated, under the Best Overseas Convention Bureau award.

The bureau is up against rivals Canada Business Events, Conventions Malta, Dubai Business Events, Dublin Convention Bureau, Monaco Tourist Authority, Rotterdam Partners and The Hague Convention Bureau.

Bella Center, meanwhile, faces off against CCIB Centre Convencions Internacional Barcelona, Fira Barcelona, Grimaldi Forum Monaco, RAI Amsterdam and the Convention Centre Dublin for the Best Overseas Conference Centre title.

Finalists and categories
The nominees are voted for by the magazine’s readers, in 15 categories, and on the night more than 1200 professionals from the UK and abroad will be attending the grand awards ceremony in London.

Another important dimension to the awards is about charity. During the evening, money is raised to support local projects around the world, for example the Just a Drop drinking water project, solar energy and the construction of school buildings in vulnerable areas.

Other awards finalists include British Airways, Emirates, Etihad, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines and Virgin Atlantic for Best Airline; De Vere Venues, Hilton Worldwide Sales, InterContinental Hotels Group, Marriott Hotels, QHotels and Radisson Blu for Best Venue Group Meeting Product; and 24 Degrees Dubai, Alpine Sterling DMC Malta & Gozo, ECMeetings Malta, Factor 3 Events, Kuoni Destination Management UK and Vista Events DMC Greece for the Best Destination Management Company award.

The other award titles are Best UK Convention Bureau, Best Academic Venue, Best UK Unusual Venue, Best Food & Beverage Supplier, Best Event Provider, Best Intermediary Agency [fewer than 40 employees], Best Intermediary Agency [more than 40 employees], Best UK Conference Centre, Best Overseas Hotel and Best UK Hotel.
