Virgin Holidays opens high-tech store – with a bar

Concept store trend follows Kuoni, Thomas Cook, Tui
Virgin Holidays says it will shake-up travel retail with the opening of its first concept store. It is the latest company to unveil up a so-called concept store, following Kuoni, Thomas Cook and Tui.
Located at the sprawling Bluewater Shopping Centre near London, the store has features that include a bar, a Disney Magic Mirror and a fully functional Virgin Atlantic Upper class seat.
“At Virgin Holidays we like to do things differently, so while most stores are designed to sell, sell, sell – that isn’t the top of our agenda,” claimed Lee Haslett, director of sales at Virgin Holidays.
“We want to provide a retail space that is designed to inspire consumers through immersive experiences. You’d be very welcome to drop by for a drink and marvel at the world around you through some of the very best ground-breaking technology.”
