Virgin presents new cruise brand

Virgin Voyages pledges to “change cruising for good”
Virgin revealed a new name and branding platform for its highly anticipated new cruise venture at a press event in Miami. Previously starting up as Virgin Cruises, it has now dropped Cruises for Voyages.
Virgin Voyages pledged to “change cruising for good” and stressed that travel “should celebrate your curiosity and not force you to follow one itinerary”.
Meanwhile, a tagline on Virgin’s Twitter account reads: “We’re here to make your travels irresistible. These will not be your average cruise ships.”
Tom McAlpin, who helped start up Disney Cruise Line, is at the helm for Virgin, which has opened offices in South Florida.
Construction on the first of three 110,000-ton, 2,800-pax ships will start in late 2017 at Fincantieri, Genoa. Virgin is promising green ships that “efficiently turn waste heat into electricity, saving stacks of C02”, according to the virginvoyages.com website.
