Who will take up Skyways’ routes?

Sverigeflyg group, Direktflyg and Flyglinjen raise frequencies

Now that Sweden’s Skyways has followed its sister airline Denmark’s Cimber Sterling into bankruptcy, which airlines are ready to fill its routes? The airline operated 11 Fokker 50s and, under the wing of its Gothenburg-based subsidiary City Airline, six ERJ145s and two ERJ135s.
The main beneficiary of the passing of Skyways is a group of regional airlines jointly branded as Sverigeflyg. It has announced a rise in frequencies on its routes between Stockholm and Visby, Halmstad and Växjö.
Meanwhile, two Jetstream 32 operators, Direktflyg and Jönköping-based Flyglinjen, are also stepping in. Direktflyg is taking up Skyways’ route between Stockholm Arlanda and Oskarshamn. It will also begin a Gothenburg-Sundsvall route on June 4 with 10 flights a week. And, from tomorrow, Flyglinjen says it will fly 15 flights a week from its base to Stockholm Arlanda in addition to its existing Jönköping-Stockholm Bromma route.
However, Skyways’ international routes are as yet to be replaced.
