Wholesaler stretches into Nordic market

Destinations of the World launches business in Scandinavia
The biggest travel industry wholesaler in the Middle East now wants to do business in Scandinavia, with Nordic tour operators, travel agencies, OTAs and other retailers.
Founded in Dubai in 1993, Destinations of the World offers, among other services, 160,000 hotels in over 10,000 destinations. Over 3,000 room nights a day in Dubai alone are booked via the company – about 20% of its total hotel bookings.
“To grow further we need to expand and be active globally,” it says in a press release. “In order to do this we need, in our new markets, to communicate our product and offer in the local languages.”
At the moment the wholesaler’s booking platform is in 16 languages including Danish, Swedish and Norwegian. Johan Janssens has been appointed as regional manager for the Nordic and Benelux regions. He is now developing the business and making contracts with travel companies.
Destinations of the World says that 50% of the Dutch and Belgian markets have become its customers and it has the same goal for the Scandinavian countries.
“They are able to use the brand new booking interface that has the look and feel of consumer booking tool. It is appealing and very user friendly,” the company says.
