Wing breaks off SAS plane at Newark

SAS aircraft smashes against United Airlines jet

Part of the wing has broken off a SAS aircraft carrying 253 passengers when it collided with another plane at New York’s Newark airport. The tail fin of the United Airlines ExpressJet Embraer 145 was also torn off.
The SAS jet was ready to take off for Oslo yesterday and was taxiing to the runway when the incident happened. No injuries were reported on either plane. The Oslo-bound aircraft returned to the gate, but the Embraer had to be towed back.
“When the plane left the gate to make its way to the runway, our plane somehow came in contact with another plane,” SAS spokeswoman Elisabeth Manzi told the news agency TT. “It’s not the case that they collided head-on.”
