Wizarding World of Harry Potter opens

Universal Studios Hollywood to see even more visitors
Universal Studios Hollywood is now home to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Universal Parks and Resorts’ third such attraction after Orlando and Osaka, Japan.
Taking five years to create, the long-awaited $500 million theme park was unveiled on April 7. Tickets were sold out days in advance and thousands of fans gathered at the entrance before dawn.
They wanted to be among the first to set foot in the cobblestone village of Hogsmeade, to enjoy a butter beer and have a wand “choose” them at the magic shop.
One of the rides is Forbidden Journey, a rollercoaster that includes, for the first time in the US, 3D HD technology. It takes riders through the classrooms and corridors of Hogwarts and above the castle grounds.
Universal Studios Hollywood already attracts millions of visitors each year and the new park will boost the reputation of southern California as one of the world’s theme park capitals.
